MTN warns subscribers against failure to register SIM cards before June 30

MTN Nigeria has once again warned its subscribers against failure to register their SIM cards, saying all registration of SIM cards would close on June 30 this time round, as announced by the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC).
MTN gave the warning while addressing the press on issues relating Mobile Number Portability, Quality of Service and SIM registrations, at the company’s Golden Plaza headOffice, Falomo, Lagos.
It will be recalled that the NCC had in time past set deadline dates for SIM registrations, but failed to implement it.

Spokesperson for the MTN, Corporate Services Executive, Mr Akinwale Goodluck, said subscribers must take the deadline date very seriously as the NCC had declared itself ready for the date, adding that on its part, the MTN was ready to register all its yet-to-be registered customers before the said date.

He said: “Government is serious about it, as we at the MTN are fully committed to doing it right. We have improved upgrading systems, deployed systems which
work in the extremely rural areas of the country and we are giving in our best shot.” To check if your sim is registered send “Reg to 746” as Sms

My programmer is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea simply because of the costs. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using Movable-type on several websites for about a yr and am concerned about switching to an additional platform. I have heard very good things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress posts into it? Any help could be really appreciated!

Hey, thanks for dropping by to request for help regarding this. However, it is a work of your programmer and I’m suggesting that he should do the following before you even think of transferring your posts:

      1. Create a backup of the database.
      2. Create a new sub-domain (just to test-run for compatibility before you override your active wordpress site) and do the following:
a). Install the new blogging platform you want to use.
b). Export database “posts.sql” from your current wp-mysql database user and save it as .sql on your system.
b). Login to the new sub-domain and import the database.
c). Test-run the site and see if it works.
If it works, then you can go ahead and apply it to your active site.

This is majorly due to the change in platform used by blog builders. I don’t know about the blgoengine.net. But I will check on their scripts and compare with wordpress and see if there is any flexibility.

NOTE: You’ll need a skilled programmer to do some coding for you on: “posts.php”, “index.php” and “comments.php” and modification of “styles.php” or as may be needed.

      Good luck.
